Welcome to the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association

The Scottish Men’s Sheds Association’s sole focus is supporting Scotland’s Shedders and their supporters to create Men’s Sheds in their community across Scotland. If you need help, inspiration or just a chat, you have come to the right place.

Our website has many sections with over 40 pages of Shed information and links. So be sure to look at the page tabs at the top of every page and enjoy all the info!

Do you use You Tube? The Scottish Men’s Sheds Association has its own channel with lots of Shed films – we make our own films about Scottish Men’s Sheds from promoting what the Men’s Sheds concept is all about to our new series ‘Outside The Box’. This highlights creative solution thinking by our Scottish Shedders –  be sure to subscribe to watch our films:  Scottish Men’s Sheds Association You Tube Channel.

We are here as your association to promote you, get like minded people in your area to be able to find you and get you all connected! Without you we don’t have a thriving grass roots driven Scottish Men’s Sheds Movement.

We are here to help educate people and organisations to the major benefits of supporting the creation of Men’s Sheds by our local communities throughout Scotland. We will educate through all our communication channels – website, social media, conferences and presentations and more.

We are here to inform you about the latest funding opportunities, news that will inspire you to achieve your dream, keep you up to date with changing Scottish laws that might effect your Shed and inform you of opportunities to make an impact on local councils and Scottish government policies.

We are here to inspire you to enjoy a happier and healthy life by joining us in the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association and the Scottish Men’s Sheds Movement. Our website is packed full of useful information and will be constantly growing.

We are here to assist you with any questions or challenges you will face along the journey of creating or participating in your Men’s Shed. We know because we have mostly already faced them in creating our own local Sheds all across Scotland. Without you being successful we don’t have a thriving grass roots driven Scottish Men’s Sheds Movement.

We welcome everybody irrespective of gender, religious beliefs or political views etc who would see this being successful and would like to be involved in making it so all across Scotland. Join today!

What our members say

In short. We already feel invigorated, more motivated, more active, healthier and indeed happier. Isn’t that what a Shed is about?- Bill B
Your advice and help in negotiating and securing us a lease has been invaluable. We wish you every success in developing the SMSA to the point that every area in Scotland will have a regional advisor.- Alan P
There have been times when the task ahead of us has seemed too much and without your presence to re-kindle our motivation we might have faltered.- Peter
Many thanks for such a fulsome conversation this morning. Both Lawson and I learnt a great deal from our chat and from your advice. Well Being!- Alan S

SCVO Budget Bill Briefing:
"For many of Scotland’s charities & community groups delivering essential services, the outlook for 2020 remains ‘unsettled’ -- Minimising this uncertainty for the voluntary sector must be a priority for future Scottish budgets."

When SMSA heard about a Shedder described as a stalwart member and nicknamed ‘Duracell’ because he is always on the go, we just knew we had to find out more about him.
