Welcome to the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association

The Scottish Men’s Sheds Association’s sole focus is supporting Scotland’s Shedders and their supporters to create Men’s Sheds in their community across Scotland. If you need help, inspiration or just a chat, you have come to the right place.

Our website has many sections with over 40 pages of Shed information and links. So be sure to look at the page tabs at the top of every page and enjoy all the info!

Do you use You Tube? The Scottish Men’s Sheds Association has its own channel with lots of Shed films. Today here is a way to simply make a Protective Face Shield from Doctors in Germany. Please pass on to others who have laminators at home or in the office and supply to your local care homes, food takeway outlets etc. – we also make our own films about Scottish Men’s Sheds promoting what the Men’s Sheds concept is all about.  This highlights creative solution thinking by our Scottish Shedders –  be sure to subscribe to watch our films:  Scottish Men’s Sheds Association You Tube Channel.

Covid-19: Advice for our members and NEW Face Shield templates to make for yourselves and communities

This advice is given in the interest of protecting your own health, the health of your Shedders and the wider community. Thanks to the efforts of the Kinross and District Men’s Shed they have created, trialled and now made available the best templates to make Face Shields.

You can download the templates either to be made with a pair of scissors or the more robust 3D Printed ones with all the required codes. Log in to the website and look in the Resource Section and download.

To access these if you are not an individual member – join for free below to get your Log In details.

This is difficult and uncharted territory for the whole country but we will play our part and support the efforts to slow down the spread of this virus in our communities.

I hope that all of your Sheds are now closed as the Prime Minister said back in March: “ Clubs, pubs, sporting venues, churches, cinemas, gyms and casinos will all shut their doors across the country” –  “ only go outside for food, health reasons or work (where this absolutely cant be done from home), Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people and wash your hands when you get home”.

We will continue to give updates through our social media channels like Facebook and emails as new ideas spring forth to keep us all connected.

This connectedness can still continue by different means, even during this very difficult time.

***Please use the SMSA Member Sheds Forum  on Facebook as a support network to stay connected to fellow Shedders, chat and post your Shed’s status***

More so than ever, it is important that we support each other. It is important to stay in touch with all your members. We hope that you will continue to connect with one another and check in on those who may be particularly isolated during this period with a phone call or set up free Zoom conference calling with Shedders, friends and family etc.- www.zoom.us
