Five regional champions crowned in Scottish Men’s Sheds of the Year Awards 2025

The Scottish Men’s Sheds Association (SMSA) is proud to announce the five regional winners of the Scottish Men’s Sheds of the Year Awards 2025, following a record number of applications from across the country.
2025 marks the first year of a new regional format introduced by the SMSA to celebrate a wider range of Sheds across Scotland and highlight the rich diversity and impact of local Men’s Sheds in each area.
This year’s regional champions are:
- Region 1: East Coast (North) – St Andrews Men’s Shed
- Region 2: East Coast (South) – Dalkeith Men’s Shed
- Region 3: West Coast (North) – Houston & Killellan Church Men’s Shed
- Region 4: West Coast (South) – Clyde Coast & Cumbraes Men’s Shed
- Region 5: Highlands & Islands – Inverness Men’s Shed
With more Sheds than ever applying, the judging panel was inspired by the incredible range of community projects, volunteer passion, and meaningful impact these Sheds have in their local areas.
Jason Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer of the SMSA, said: “This year we’ve seen a phenomenal response to the awards—a record number of applications that reflects just how far the Scottish Men’s Sheds Movement has come. Introducing regional awards for the first time has allowed us to celebrate even more dynamic Sheds, and each of the five winners truly represents the heart and soul of their communities. Every Shed has a story worth telling.
“I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every Shed that took the time to apply this year—it was truly inspiring to read about the incredible work happening in communities across Scotland. Choosing just five regional winners was no easy task. I congratulate them all and wish them the very best of luck as they go forward for the national title of Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year 2025.”
Each of the five regional winners now go forward to the SMSA Board of Trustees who will decide on the top three going forward as finalists and to be voted upon by the SMSA individual members for the prestigious Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year 2025 national title. The announcement will be made later this year at the SMSA’s annual gathering, AGM and awards event on Friday 3rd October 2025 at Perth & Kinross Council Chambers and Civic Hall.
The fourth and fifth placed Sheds receive their regional title in addition to a certificate and £250 towards Shed running costs from the SMSA. The three finalist Sheds will receive their own regional title, targe trophy, certificate and an array of prizes and funds from the SMSA, and awards partners and sponsors to support their Shed.
