Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year 2026 Finalists Announced
The Scottish Men’s Sheds Association (SMSA) – Scotland’s largest men’s health and wellbeing charity - has announced the three Men’s Sheds that will compete for the title of Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year 2026, following an outstanding response to this year's national awards.
The three national finalists are:
• Irvine Newtown Men’s Shed
• Milngavie and Bearsden Men’s Shed
• Stonehaven Men’s Shed
This year’s entries highlighted the incredible range of activities and projects being delivered by Sheds, from improving health and wellbeing and reducing social isolation to supporting local charities and schools, restoring community spaces, intergenerational partnerships, sharing practical skills, and creating lasting friendships.
Jason Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer of the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association, said: “The standard of this year’s entries has been outstanding, making the SMSA Board of Trustees’ decision to select our three finalists incredibly challenging. Every entry demonstrated the values that make the Men’s Shed movement so special – friendship, inclusion, volunteering and making a real difference in local communities.
“Congratulations to the Irvine Newtown, Milngavie and Bearsden, and Stonehaven Sheds on reaching the national final. We look forward to celebrating their achievements at our National Gathering in August.”
The overall winner of the Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year Awards 2026 will be announced at the SMSA National Gathering, AGM and Awards on Friday 28th August 2026, where the finalists will be recognised alongside Men’s Sheds from across the country.
The SMSA would like to congratulate all the regional winners and thank every Shed that entered this year’s awards. The inspiring stories shared through the awards programme demonstrate the positive impact Sheds continue to have on the health and wellbeing of thousands of people and the communities they serve.
With more than 210 Men’s Sheds operating across all 32 local authority areas, the Scottish Men’s Shed movement continues to grow, providing welcoming spaces where people can connect, learn new skills, support one another and contribute to their local communities.
