Safeguarding Adults Policy Template and Poster for Scottish Men’s Sheds
RESOURCES FOR OPEN SHEDS
Living a life free from harm and abuse is a fundamental human right and an essential requirement for our health and wellbeing. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
Implementing a safeguarding adults policy and procedures not only promotes the importance of the protection of all of the people that come into contact with the Shed – and the prevention from any harm, abuse or neglect – but also ensures that there is a best practice framework in place should any safeguarding concerns arise.
SMSA Individual Member Log-In Required
The Scottish Men’s Sheds Association (SMSA) has co-created a comprehensive Safeguarding Adults Policy template for its Shed Members. The template has been designed in such a way that individual Men’s Sheds can amend, alter and/or enhance the document to work alongside any existing policies and procedures. The policy statement may also be a key requirement for some funders.
Included within the template is information on the relevant legislation to support you in your decision making and responsibilities. The policy and associated procedures apply to all individuals involved in the Shed including members, trustees, volunteers and visitors.
This is your policy. Please build it to work with your Shed but please remember to remain within the expectations and principles of the legislation in your local area.
DISCLAIMER:
Use of this model policy is entirely at your own risk. The policy should be adapted to suit your own organisational needs and you should ensure it meets your own specific requirements. You should also check this policy is compliant with your organisation’s governing document (Shed Constitution). No liability rests with the SMSA.
